There are three components involved

Search Engine:– Search engines are meant to give answers to our questions. Search Engines discover, understand, and organized the all web content to deliver the most relevant results to the questions of searchers.

First, Make sure that your page visible and discoverable to the search engines. You can check this setting on your CMS (WordPress, Drupal etc.) If your site is not visible to search engines then there is no way to come upon Search Engine Result Page (SERP).

Query:- Query is the question input through typing or audio by a visitor in the search engine to find answer best relevant answer.

Results:- When any user inputs the query in the search engine, uses got the most relevant search results based on the query.

Search Engine has mainly three basic functions

Crawl:- In this process search engine, say Google, score the internet for content for each URL they find through Googlebot or Spiders.

Indexing:- Indexing is to store and organize the crawled content. The indexed page is now ready to appear on SERP as per relevant queries.

Rank:- Rank is the order to display the searched results which means top results are best results to a query as per search engine. All SEO techniques are focused to get a search engine rank by means to fulfill all Signals parameters of search engine.

Types of Keyword Fundamentals in SEO

Head Keywords

Through these words, we can get intentions to a certain limit but absolutely not clear. Such body keywords also should be avoided on a new website.

Long Tailed Keywords

These are mostly used and recommended for content creators. As the name suggests, long-tailed keywords consist of more than 3 words.

Both, Volume and competitions are low compared to Head and Body Keywords. These long-tailed keywords give proper and clear intentions about the query.

For example, “Best Mobile Phone under $200”

This gives a clear idea of what searchers want to know. Such type of Long-tailed keywords should be incorporated into your content or page. These keywords are best suitable for Blogging, Affiliate Marketer, and small business.

How to find the best keywords

Before stepping in towards keyword research strategy, we should know the searcher’s intention who is making a query.

Informational Intent Keywords

When a searcher looking for some information only. Searchers don’t have the intention to buy any product or service.

Informational intent keywords are very useful if a blogger wants to monetize their site through advertisements (AdSense or any third party advertisements). To get ranked through Informational Searches you should:-

  • Write a blog post which is full of targeted keyword. Do proper SEO as described in an earlier post.
  • If possible, create a video about the topic.
  • Write a detailed step-by-step guide.
  • Add relevant graphics within the post.
  • Your Goal should establish your blog or website as a trustworthy and authentic source of the information.

Navigational Intent Keywords

In such type of search intents, the searcher has a clear intention to visit a particular website. The visitor wants to visit the desired website through a search engine query.

For example, a user might enter “HSBC Bank” into Google’s search bar to find the HSBC Bank site rather than entering the URL into a browser’s navigation bar or using a bookmark.

As these are specific searches, so most difficult to target such Intent until unless users want to visit your site only. Some searches seem to be Navigational but they are not Navigational Intent.

 However, some queries that appear to be navigational in nature might not be. For example, someone who googles “Facebook” might actually be looking for news or information about the company.

Transactional Keywords

Transactional search queries are the most useful and have a high conversion rate to make a purchase. These are the most targeted keywords by sellers and affiliate marketers.

In such type of queries, the visitor is ready to buy a searched product. Visitor ready to pay for products after analyzing different products for “Best”, “Highly reviewed and rated”, “Comparisons between the products”, “Sizes & colors of choices” etc.

For example, the “iPhone size comparison chart” is a searched query. In this query, visitor desperately wants to buy an iPhone after getting comparison information of phone size. Another example is “Best running shoes for men”, “Best smartwatch under $150” etc.

These keywords are highly competitive in the market and hard to rank on top of SERP. To satisfy these Trasectional queries you need to do excellent research on transactional keywords.
